Holy cow, the wind was ridiculous today!!
I joined the Social Committee for our HOA, and am loving it. I am sure that everyone that knows me knows I love to plan get togethers, I am having a blast! Anyway, so our first event is on June 21st and so we had some flyers printed up to distribute throughout the community. I divided up the community between the members of the committee and so Isabelle and I set out this morning to start our section of the HOA.
The wind was pretty bad but I thought that we would be ok. The first couple of flyers started to fly of the doors but once I figured out rolling them up worked the best I was good to go. About 10 houses into the adventure Isabelle (who was sitting in her stroller) decided that she wanted to help Mommy. I let her get out of the stroller and then she started walking up to the doors with me. Well that was working out great until the wind got the better of us. All of a sudden I see the stroller start rolling down the street, I tell Isabelle to stay where she is and I will be right back. I took of running down the street and the stroller was just flying, I mean the thing had a mind of its own!! Of course all of the flyers are on the stroller so one by one they are flying off and I am still chasing. Finally the stroller hits a curb, falls over, and throw all of the contents of the stroller on the ground. As if this was not bad enough I hear a blood curdling scream, "NOOOOOO, STROLLER". I turn around and Isabelle is running toward me (after I specifically told her to stay put) screaming and crying, as if she was in the stroller when it fell over and busted her head open or something. So now I am consoling a child (who is being ridiculous), chasing flying flyers, and picking up all of my crap off the ground. What a mess!! Finally I convince Isabelle that she can help Mommy by sitting in the stroller and weighting it down so that it will not fly away. That did not go so well either because 20 minutes later I am chasing a run a way stroller down the street with Isabelle in it. Funny thing is she was not crying this time, I think because she knew that if she was in the stroller then nothing bad would happen to it.
We then go to the pool, that is after Isabelle's make believe nap (she just talked and sang, no sleeping went on). Isabelle was climbing in the big girl pool, I have told her on many occasions that she can only go down 3 steps!! I guess Isabelle decided to check and see if I was lying to her about not being able to touch after the 3rd step. I yell to her when I saw her going down the 4th one, that this is the last step and she cannot touch. Next thing you know she is under the water, drowning! I jump in the pool complete with dress, flip flops, and sunglasses to save the little squirt. Looks like I was not lying, imagine that she can't touch!! Here I am soaking wet now so I decide to take off my dress and get in the pool (I had a bathing suit on underneath). I squeeze by dress out and lay it across a chair in hoped that it will dry out a little before our walk home. Here comes Mommy vs. The Wind take 2!! I am swimming with Isabelle when I hear a big crash, look over and the dress that I was drying has now flown into the pool along with the chair that it was hanging on. Good grief! So I walked home in a soaking wet dress!
The Wind wins this one, better luck next time Mommy!
(I almost forgot to tell you about what Isabelle said about her stroller. I am starting to thing that she might be a little attached to her stroller. After she threw the fit about her stroller getting "damaged" when it blew away this morning she yelled at me for getting her stroller wet at the pool. After SAVING HER LIFE, I was ringing my dress out and some of the water got on the precious wheel of her wonderful stroller and she yelled at me, "No Mommy, not wet". I swear, the girl has no respect for me)
