12 Week Testing

A few months ago I went in for some 12 week testing with a perinatologist to see how the baby was doing, and hopefully find out the sex of the baby. It is crazy how far science has come in the short 4 years it has been when I was pregnant with Isabelle. When I had her Dave and I opted to not have any testing done because nothing was going to effect the outcome of whether we had her or not, although we absolutely feel the same way about this baby we felt like for Isabelle's sake we should probably have some of the testing done. If anything was wrong we wanted to be sure to have plenty of time to prepare and talk to Isabelle about what to expect. Thank God the baby looked wonderful, and the first gender prediction is a BOY! The perinatologist we saw has been wrong 2 times in the past 5 years, so I think our odds are pretty good especially after seeing some of the sonogram pictures.

I love the second picture it is a shot from the top of his head as he raises his little arm to wave!

It is still a little early at 12 weeks to make a 100% positive prediction but we are pretty sure we are expecting a boy in July! Isabelle was fine with a boy until we got in the car, then she told Dave and I that she was very mad at us because she told us she wanted a little sister. Although she was hoping for a little sister she is still incredibly thrilled just to have a sibling, she is going to be such a big sister. She has also made up her mind that the next baby (a year from now, she says) WILL BE a girl, we have tried explaining to her that God decides not Mommy and Daddy but she is pretty sure God will decide for us to have another girl!

As for the rest of the testing we later found out we have a 93% chance of the baby not having down syndrome and a very slim to no chance of the baby having Trisomy, we are truly blessed!
