Mama Mia

Isabelle and I went to the mall today. Each trip to the mall requires a ride on the carousel. I took this oppotunity to get Isabelle to show off her singing skills.

We just recently watched the movie Mama Mia and absolutely LOVED it! I downloaded the soundtrack and now that is all we listen to in the car. Her favorite songs are Mama Mia and Honey, Honey. A girl after my own heart =) I think we will go for Grease or The Sound of Music next. Grease maybe a little riskay for her right now, oh well The Sound of Music it is!

Our Big Adventure

Isabelle was watching Sid the Science Kid (her favorite show) the other morning and asked me , "Mommy, how come you never let me go on any adventures?". I felt so bad that we never go on any adventures that I promised we would go on an adventure the next day.

The next morning when Isabelle woke up there was a map waiting for her with all of the things that we were going to do on our adventure. The map had a picture of her eating breakfast, getting dressed, driving in Daddy's truck, going to the tire store, eating lunch, etc. I took a few picture of her with her map as we began her big adventure, and another picture of her at the tire store. The necklace was something Pops (my dad) bought her months ago, for some reason she saw it the morning we were leaving and said, "I never told Pops thank you for this beautiful necklace". So she had to wear it so if we saw Pops she could remember to tell him thank you, what a thoughtful little soul she is =)

For those of you who do not know Isabelle has an obsession with tires! I have no idea how the obsession began, or why she loves them so much but she has a true passion for tires. For the past couple of months Isabelle asks Dave and I if we can go to the tire store on the way home. We have never taken her to one (never had a reason to), and so we would always tell her that if we saw one open on the way home we would stop. (Of course, we made sure to never see one because what on Earth would we do at the TIRE STORE!) So for Christmas she asked Santa to bring her tires, but we explained to her that he wouldn't they would not make a good gift. One day we were going to Costco and Dave mentioned to Isabelle that they sold tires there. She just lit up and was so excited to check out the tires at Costco, she even insited on bringing her pretend camera to take pictures with the tires. When we got to the tire section at Costco she was so happy, it was like we were at a candy store or something. She was snapping pictures, smiling and rubbing all of the tires. At the same time saying, "Eww Daddy this is a nice one". She even comments on the condition of people's tires, she told me the other day that Mr. Chris (Dave's cousin) needed new tires, and that Grandma has small tires.

The girl is a freak, needless to say she was so excited about going on an adventure to the tire store. Just look at the excitement in her face as I took her picture in front of the tires. (By the way we actually bought tires this day, I didn't just take her for fun. I felt dumb enough with her taking pretend pictures at Costco)

Where are the Winks?

As you know Dave and I were out of town all week last week for Mom Mom's funeral. We are finally back, but will be leaving again in two weeks! We are going from one extreme to the other, 11 degrees with 20 mph winds to the warm sandy beaches of Jamaica!

My wonderful husband was awarded, from work, a trip to Montego Bay staying at the Ritz Carlton. I cannot wait! Not only is he an amazing husband, but also an awesome employee. So we leave in a few weeks for an all inclusive, relaxing, romantic getaway that we are sooo looking forward to.

After returning from Jamaica we will be leaving again in the beginning of March for a 7 day cruise to the Caribbean. This trip we actually get to take Isabelle on (which I am very excited about), I have really been feeling guilty later about leaving her so much =( I miss my sweet baby!

So when you call and can't find us, chances are we are sitting on the beach enjoying a Pina Colada thinking about you.

I am sad to say that last week Dave's grandmother (Isabel aka Mom Mom from way up high), passed away. She lived a very long and wonderful life, and died at the ripe old age of 91!I can only hope to live as long as she did. Dave, his father, and uncle moved Mom Mom from Baltimore to Dallas about three years ago, and let me tell you she was kicking and screaming. Despite what she thought, it was absolutely the best thing for her. She was able to spend much more time with her children, grandchildren, and even great grandchildren. Isabelle was always so excited to visit Mom Mom from way up high! On on last visit Isabelle hopped in the wheel chair with Mom Mom while her other Mom Mom (Dave's mom) pushed the two of them around the home. Isabelle sang songs to Mom Mom as they rode around, and even scooped out some birds. Anytime that Isabelle heard that someone was going to visit Mom Mom she would remind that person to make sure that Mom Mom had on her oxygen, she was always so worried about her.

It still amazes me that on Christmas day Mom Mom was visiting with all of us, and a few weeks later she is gone. She was a very proud and strong woman, and will be missed tremendously.

Dave and spent last week in Baltimore with family. I am sure that Mom Mom was looking down on us, laughing because she was back home in Baltimore! The viewings were on Wednesday and Thursday, followed by the funeral on Friday. I am glad that I was able to attend because it gave me a wonderful opportunity to meet many family members that I hear so much about but have never met.

The weather was absolutely FREEZING! The worst day of all was the funeral, the temperature was 11 degrees with 20 mph winds! I could actually feel my eyeballs freezing inside of my head, and my face was getting freezer burn! It was cold, bone chilling cold, I think the blood in my body started to freeze! As cold as it was it was all worth it to pay our respects to such a wonderful lady.

We love you and miss you Mom Mom, thank you for all of the wonderful memories!

Advertising at it's finest

The other night Isabelle and I were looking at some videos online, she loves to watch kids singing and dancing on YouTube. While looking Isabelle yells, "wait Mommy, I know a website". "Let's go to PBSKids.org", I could not believe what I just heard. Not only does she know a website to go to, but she knows that I have to use my computer to get there. So I decide to humor the girl and go to PBSKids.org. As soon as I get there she tackles me and snags the mouse right out of my hand. She played on that site for an hour! I was absolutely amazed, she was clicking on stuff, dragging things around, and playing games. She must be getting on the computer while Dave and I are sleeping because she is a pro at a mouse. Constantly amazing me, but this takes the cake!

Great advertising PBS, it is working on my 2 year old!

Here are a few videos of Isabelle talking about her new website, and a video about her favorite show Sid the Science Kid.

To translate in video 1 she says that she has to go to her website to see what's happening (LOL). In video 2 she is singing a Sid the Science Kid song, it is my favorite because it says. " I love my mom, my mom is cool". I just love when she sings that song =)

Dave thinks Isabelle will be asking for her own laptop for her birthday, which is not going to happen.

Happy Birthday to Dave!

Today is Dave's birthday, happy birthday honey! I love birthdays so I wanted to make sure that Dave had an extra special birthday. Isabelle and I started by making him breakfast in bed before he went to work. Isabelle even helped she was the official icing spreader, and did the honor of spreading the icing all over Daddy Cinnamon roll. Just as we were about to take the roll to him Isabelle announced that Daddy needs candles, bunches of candles! I don't have on hand so we had to settle for a single tea candle. Isabelle was so sweet as she took Daddy's Cinnamon roll to him and sang Happy Birthday!

When Dave gets home from work we have presents and crab legs, yummy!

Dave, thank you for being such a wonderful husband and Daddy. Isabelle and I love you very much. I hope that we are able to make this day as special to you, as you are to us. Have a wonderful day and HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Christmas is Over

The tree came down today and all of the decorations are gone. It is a sad day at the Wink house, even Isabelle got a little teary eyed as I packed away her Santa friend. I had to promise her that I would get her some Valentine's day friends to replace Santa and Frosty. (Where I am going to find Valentines Day friends I don't know, but the hunt is on!)

So this Christmas has been a whirl wind, the last two weeks have flown by. We had Christmas Eve at Papaw and Mamaws, Christmas day at home and then off to Aunt Jackies and Uncle Mikes, we had Ashley spend the night for a few days, then Melissa and Brandon, visit to Benbrook to see my mom and grandparents, and lastely (but the most important) Dave's grandmother has been in the hospital for the last week. We have been soo busy! So here are some of the pictures that I took along the way....

My "little" brothers Shane and Troy- Troy really got all decked out tux and all!

I wonder who got Dave this shirt for Christmas =) Must be someone who loves him a lot

Isabelle's name sake- Isabel Wink, who is also known to Isabelle as "Mom Mom from way up high" because she is from Baltimore in relation to Texas that is way up high. When you have as many grandparents as us you have to get creative.

Isabelle checking her emails, that is her new favorite past time.

Nothing says Merry Christmas like this face
